Description
Apple mint (1 ounce Mentha Suaveolens) makes a fragrant tea used in ages past for fevers, headaches, respiratory illness, digestive upsets. Traditional Mediterranean medicine with a wide range of uses. Leaves break down fat & speed up metabolism, and can be added to jams & sweet dessert recipes, powdered to whiten teeth, or applied on bee stings to relieve pain. Greeks used apple mint to clean their tables, and as a rejuvenating bath additive.
Leaves have nutritive value as well, containing iron, potassium, calcium, Vitamin A & C, and reputedly have anticancer properties.
Properties: Antiseptic, antifungal, antioxidant, carminative, antimicrobial, hepaprotective, analgesic, febrifuge, anti-inflammatory.
Precautions: Pregnant women should avoid. Also large doses may be harmful to those with asthma or allergies to mint family. Apple mint consumption in excess can lead to muscle ache, cramps, tremors,drowsiness, diarrhea and slow heart rate.
